Italy and San Francisco

Liguria is a long narrow arch of land that extends along the coast which runs from Tuscany to France. The Ligurian coast, known as “The Riviera” offers some marvelous sections. The capital of the Region is Genoa, designated as the European Cultural Capital in 2004. Genoa has the most extensive medieval center in Europe, and the richest city with art of the 17 century and provides many points of interests to tourists like: the ancient port, the enormous and ultra modern aquarium and the house of Christopher Columbus. Along the coast, the most famous locations from east to west are: the Cinque Terre, Portofino, Noli, Varigotti, Alassio and Sanremo. Many gastronomic specialties include: pesto, foccaccia genovese, farinata, torta pasqualina, etc. In a song by great vocal artist, Ivano Fossati, he says, “Chi guarda Genova sappia che Genova si vede solo dal mare” which means “Let he who looks at Genoa be aware that Genoa can only really be seen from the sea”. If you are passing Genoa on the autostrada or by train don’t doubt that there are hidden treasures.
La Liguria è un arco di terra lungo e stretto che si estende lungo la costa che va dalla Toscana alla Francia. La costa ligure, nota come "la Riviera" presenta alcuni tratti meravigliosi.
Il capoluogo della regione è Genova, designata capitale europea della cultura nel 2004. Genova possiede il centro medievale più esteso d' Europa, è la città più ricca di arte del '600 e presenta molti punti di interesse turistico come il porto antico, il grandissimo e modernissimo acquario e la casa di Cristoforo Colombo. Lungo la costa le località più famose, da est a ovest, sono: le Cinque Terre, Portofino, Noli, Varigotti, Alassio e Sanremo. Molte le specialità gastronomiche: il pesto, la focaccia genovese, la farinata, la torta pasqualina ecc.
Dice una canzone di un grande artista genovese, Ivano Fossati: "Chi guarda Genova sappia che Genova si vede solo dal mare". Se passate vicino a Genova con l' autostrada o con il treno non potete nemmeno sospettare i tesori che vi si nascondono!
