About the Istituto Italiano Scuola, IIS San Francisco

IIS is a nonprofit organization that promotes and expands the knowledge of Italian language and culture throughout San Francisco and the Bay Area. IIS offers its classes at the Italian Cultural Institute of San Francisco at 425 Washington Street.

IIS offers a broad range of courses from elementary to advanced Italian, intensive courses, and a special course, the Certificazione. Classes are limited to a maximum of 12 students. Our average size class is 6 students: a superb student to teacher ratio.

The IIS provides the best opportunity for adults to learn Italian in a friendly environment with unparalleled resources. IIS enjoys a remarkably high percentage of return students which we believe is a statement that we are, in fact, providing the stimulating and enriching experience to which we aspire. This may explain, in part, the interesting diversity of students who attend, representing a wide range in age and ethnicity.
