The new Corso a Tema - L'Italiano attraverso l'Opera - will start on Monday, January 26 (6pm-9pm).
This will be a regular ten-weeks class of 30 hours for intermediate to advanced students. |

THEME COURSE
For intermediate and advanced students who are mastering the language and the grammar and want to expand on a particular themes of the Italian culture, or just for conversation and enjoyment. |

The course will introduce the students to the extravagance and fun of traditional opera, while at the same time offer a new way of understanding
and appreciating the culture of Italy. Students will be requested to read the libretto of "Cavalleria Rusticana," and the short story by Sicilian writer, Giovanni Verga, in order to make a comparison among different genres and to appreciate Italian Verismo. "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" and "La Boheme" will also be object of study. No previous knowledge of opera is required but an interest and curiosity for it is advisable. |

Il corso ha l’obiettivo di introdurre gli studenti alla fantasia e al piacere dell'opera e nel contempo offre un nuovo modo di intendere e apprezzare la cultura italiana. Gli studenti leggeranno il libretto della "Cavalleria Rusticana" e il racconto dallo stesso titolo dello scrittore siciliano Giovanni Verga, per poter fare un confronto tra due scritture letterarie diverse e conoscere il Verismo italiano. Altre opere oggetto di
studio saranno "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" e "La Boheme". |
