Our focus is on accommodating our students. We do this by offering a wide range of classes and times in which they are held.


The IIS also offers private language lessons with its teachers. Lessons are scheduled to meet the availability of the students and are held at IIS.

ELEMENTARE 1—Designed for beginning students with little or no prior knowledge of Italian. At the end of the course students will be able to read and construct basic sentences.

ELEMENTARE 2—Students will master enough grammar and vocabulary to be able to read and talk about easy topics. They will be able to successfully take a vacation in Italy on their own.
INTERMEDIO 1Designed to develop reading competency and oral comprehension. Students will widen their knowledge of grammar. They will be able to read short stories and articles and hold a casual conversation.
INTERMEDIO 2Emphasis is on developing conversation skills. Conversations will relate to different topics, chosen by the students with the aid of the teacher.

INTERMEDIO 3Per studenti capaci di sostenere facili conversazioni, che desiderano conoscere meglio la grammatica e parlare di argomenti più complessi.

INTERMEDIO 4 In questo corso gli studenti completano lo studio della grammatica e arricchiscono il loro vocabolario con conversazioni e letture. Il corso permette agli studenti di padroneggiare la lingua prima di iniziare il livello Avanzato..
AVANZATO 1 & 2Per studenti che parlano bene o molto bene italiano, che vogliono perfezionare la grammatica e migliorare il loro livello di comprensione. In questi due livelli gli studenti leggeranno articoli di giornali italiani o un libro, discuteranno di cinema, letteratura, arte e attualità italiane.

RIPASSO DI GRAMMATICA Questo corso e' per studenti che desiderano lavorare su aspetti specifici della grammatica e arricchire il loro vocabolario attraverso il confronto con la lingua inglese, mettendo in evidenza le differenze sintattiche e idiomatiche.
CORSO A TEMA Dopo i corsi avanzati, per studenti che padroneggiano la lingua e la grammatica e vogliono approfondire un tema particolare della cultura italiana, o solo fare conversazione e divertirsi.

CERTIFICAZIONE Questo corso prepara gli studenti per il Certificato di Conoscenza della Lingua Italiana, richiesto agli stranieri che desiderano iscriversi ad università italiane. Gli esami hanno luogo dell'IIC di San Francisco. Per informazioni sulle date rivolgersi dell'IIC.
The Certificazione is for people wishing to take the exam for the Certificate of Italian Proficiency. The certificate is the only official document that the Universities of Perugia and Siena confer on students of Italian abroad through the Istituti Italiani di Cultura.

ELEMENTARE AND INTERMEDIO ON THE FAST TRACK!!!
Five-week courses:
twice a week/five hours per week

During the first class, except for Elementare 1, students will take a simple test to be sure they are in the most appropriate class and to review the program of the previous course. If a student needs to change class, he or she can change during the first week of the course.

Students may make up a missed lesson in another class during the same week. The office or the teacher must be informed in advance.
