This small region on the sea presents a linear and compact coast broken only by Mount Conero that, jutting into the Adriatic, creates the characteristic shape of an obtuse corner. The presence of the sea feeds a flourishing tourist and fishing industry. Handicrafts are the economic motors of this important region. Commercial land, however, also rich land of culture. Many men of Marche have illuminated the world: from Leopardi to Bramante, Raffaello to Rossini. Amongst the cities, we remember Ancona, capital and important harbor of the middle Adriatico, and Urbino, for centuries cultural capital of the region. Here the air that one breaths, is of the Renaissance: the time seems to be stopped walking amidst so many buildings of the 15th and 16th centuries. Among these, the famous palazzo Ducale. In the province of Pesaro, we must not forget the castello di Gradara, the place of the tragic love between Paolo and Francesca made immortal by Dante. Finally, the nature lovers can find here the beautiful ravine of Frasassi, with its spectacular labyrinths of water and limestone. The food of Marche is strongly influenced by the bordering neighbors, becoming a place where the flavors of the north and south join together. Among the most known dishes: the “brodetto”, the Adriatic fish soup, and the “garagoli”, delicious shellfish.
Questa lingua di terra sul mare presenta una costa compatta e lineare, spezzata unicamente dal monte Conero che, protendendosi nell’Adriatico, crea la caratteristica forma ad angolo ottuso.La presenza del mare alimenta una fiorente industria turistica ed ittica. L’artigianato e la piccola industria sono motori economici altrettanto importanti di questa regione.Terra di commercio dunque, ma anche terra ricca di cultura. Tanti gli uomini che dalle Marche hanno illuminato il mondo: da Leopardi a Bramante, da Raffaello a Rossini. Tra le città ricordiamo Ancona, capoluogo e porto importante del medio Adriatico, e Urbino, per secoli capitale culturale della regione. Qui l’aria che si respira è quella del Rinascimento: il tempo sembra essersi fermato camminando tra i numerosi edifici del XV e XVI secolo. Tra questi, il celebre palazzo Ducale. In provincia di Pesaro non dobbiamo dimenticare il castello di Gradara, luogo del tragico amore tra Paolo e Francesca reso immortale da Dante. Infine, gli amanti della natura, possono trovarne una magnifica rappresentazione nella gola di Frasassi, con i suoi spettacolari labirinti di acque e calcari. La cucina marchigiana subisce fortemente l’influenza delle regioni confinanti diventando così punto di incontro tra i sapori del nord e quelli del sud. Tra i piatti più conosciuti: il “brodetto”, la zuppa di pesce dell’Adriatico e i “garagoli”, prelibati molluschi.
