IIS and IIC physically share the same building, and work closely together to provide an unparalleled environment in which to experience the vast offerings of the Italian culture.
These two powerful arenas of knowledge are combined and presented so that one can pick and choose amongst the huge "menu of experiences" in accordance with their specific interests.
Lectures, exhibits, films, readings, theatrical performances, regional culinary presentations, that take place in the Galleria, are all a part of studying the Italian language here at the school.

One event, in which the IIC takes part in sponsoring, is the N.I.C.E. or New Italian Cinema Events. Most recent was a film brought for its US premier, Francesca and Nunziata, directed by Lina Wertmueller. Ms. Wertmueller was in attendance for the screening and took questions from audience at this event ... quite the treat for those fans of us in attendance. |

Memorable music events have been performed here featuring the classics and regional pieces not often heard here in the US.
Shown in the picture to the left, a classe a tema or "theme class" is discussing a film just shown in which the students are learning the language by using it to convey and understand dynamics in the world of cinema.

Many are pleasantly surprised to learn just how inclusive IIC and IIS is when sponsoring programs, or themes in the many course offerings. One of the many examples of the range of topics presented: Just in the past couple of months, featured were both a scholar talking about the typographic "fonts" of early Rome, then a few weeks later, another event with a panel dicusssion on the hip-hop music movement following the development in Italy after its inception here in the US. |
